Starlight’s building is connected to the Islington Subway station (part of the Toronto Transit Commission public transit network). This state-of-the-art Class A office building hosts tenants like the Ministry of Education and Moneris.
The building owners looked for solutions to reduce demand charges (Global Adjustment) and turned to Peak Power for guidance. We installed a 500 KW system to help slash demand charges by 25%.
Peak Power was able to achieve energy cost reduction and revenue generation through global adjustment savings and contributions to demand response.
Peak Power signed an 11-year shared savings agreement with Starlight Investments to install an energy storage unit (ESU) to target Ontario’s peak demand electricity charges at Bloor Islington Place, one of their premier commercial office buildings.
The shared savings agreement minimized risk and freed up capital for alternative capital projects. Peak Power was responsible for procuring the energy storage unit (ESU), submitting utility interconnection documents, and providing an engineered solution that located the ESU in a previously unused outdoor location.
Similar to one of our other downtown Toronto projects, Peak Power was required to manage the subway running nearby (Islington stop) and obtain permission from the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to build.
Peak Power was able to achieve energy cost reduction and revenue generation through global adjustment savings and contributions to demand response.
